Despite Its Relative Infancy, the Metro franchise has done an incredible job of endearing itself to the hardcore, game-playing masses. Despite myriad technical and mechanical problems in Metro 2033, players lapped up its unique setting and mechanical eccentricities.
Metro 2033 established itself as a unique narrative and gameplay experience, a highlight in THQs slow push towards creating games primarily for the hardcore player. Metro: Last Light seemed like the natural evolution of this, as though THQ was puffing its chest out proudly, arguing its support for unique, hardcore franchises that could never see the light of day with another publisher.

But sales can't match those of its predecessor as Fuse debuts at 37.
However, actual sales paint a different picture, with GRID 2's week one total coming in 29 per cent down on the original GRID's first week sales.
FIFA 13 holds on at No.2 with half-term activity giving the title a 17 per cent boost week-on-week. Dead Island: Riptide moves up one place to No.3, followed by Far Cry 3, and Resident Evil: Revelations which drops from No.1 to No.5. Metro: Last Light slides four places to No.7.
The week's major loser is EA and Insomniac's Fuse which makes its debut just inside the Top 40 at No.37.

| 'Metro: Last Light' outperforming predecessor

Metro: Last Light has apparently sold more units in one week than its predecessor Metro 2033 managed in three months.
Publisher Deep Silver has not released specific sales figures for the shooter sequel, but was quick to point out that its worldwide sales are far surpassing the original.
Although Metro: Last Light failed to match its forebear's opening-week sales in the UK, Deep Silver noted that it has shifted more units in the US than Metro 2033 has in its three-year lifespan.
The PC version is said to have been particularly successful, tripling Metro 2033's worldwide sales during its first week on the market.
Metro: Last Light debuted at the top of the all-formats software charts in numerous European territories, including the UK, when it was released last month.
The game is available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

GameCritic: "Metro: Last Light teeters on the precipice of being a genuinely great game, but it's a crying shame that many survival aspects from 2033 have been toned down to such a degree that it's ended up a friendlier, more linear experience. With a little more player agency in how they go about their business and more freedom to explore this incredibly atmospheric world on their own terms, Artyom's time in the Metro could have been truly special. As it is, it's a damn fine game and definitely worth playing in spite of the stumbles that keep it from reaching its full potential."
